X,
Johannes Luik's discourse deals with the experiencing and re-experiencing of everyday spaces, sculptural history and the mythology of embodiment. The artist has a strong relation to the process, where practice makes practice. He researches physical memory, alters matter and treats it with irrationally rational fantasy. While reusing building material, he creates a shift in the object, generating new meaning and digging up fiction.
Luik (1988) lives and works in Estonia. He obtained his MA in the Estonian Academy of Arts (2022) and LUCA School of Arts Brussels (2021). He was awarded the Young Sculptor award in 2017 and 2018 and the Adamson Eric Prize in 2020.
